Position: PMTCT Focal Person
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Head Of Programs, the Care and Treatment Focal Person provides practical
operational and clinical guidance in the areas of prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT),
HIV Testing and Counseling, and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Diagnosis and Treatment
Services, which are consistent with international best practices PMTCT Focal Person has a prime
responsibility of providing clinical mentoring of ART and PMTCT to service providers. The Care
and Treatment Service Focal Person contributes to the training of service providers and managers.
He/She works closely with the County MOH PMTCT focal person, other Departments and MoH to
ensure harmonization of implementation efforts. He/She ensures timely and cost-effective program
implementation and reporting activities.
Key Functions/Results Expected
RESPONSIBLITIES & TASKS
Provide regular clinical mentoring to ART and PMTCT service providers
1. Provide technical guidance on Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT), HIV Testing and
Counseling, and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Diagnosis and Treatment Services;
2. Facilitate the use of standardized guidelines and protocols for Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission
(PMTCT), HIV Testing and Counseling, and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Diagnosis and
Treatment Services;

3. Provide training of trainers, follow-up and supportive supervision as necessary for program activities;
4. Assist with coordinating the necessary program and technical input from partners required for key
activities and work closely with external stakeholders, consultants and experts as required;
5. Serve as a focal person for the entire project;
6. Work in collaboration with other program team members to ensure necessary program planning,
development, resource availability and management activities function smoothly and efficiently;
7. Prepare project implementation plan and closely follow up implementation progress of all implementing
areas and units;
8. Ensure implementation of projects within the defined budget limit and time;
9. Identify problems in relation to the project, design solutions and solve on the spot;
10. Collaborate closely with key stakeholders, including MoH and professional associations for smooth
implementation;
11. Preparing periodic project reports and submit to the Head Of Programs;
12. Coordinate with the Head Of Programs and M&E for successful delivery of technical assistance and
implementation of program activities;
13. Contribute to annual work planning, training plans and quarterly reports;
14. Evaluate program progress against deliverables on a quarterly basis;
15. Promote and support the dissemination of program best practices and lessons learned among the program
team, key stakeholders, including the MoH and local partners.
16. Contribute to timely, accurate and appropriate reporting of program activities and results to the Donor,
including progress and annual report;
17. Perform any other duties as assigned;
Qualification: BA Degree in Nursing/Clinical, Public Health,
Experience: A minimum of 4 years relevant experience for BA in managing, Coordinating and
implementing HIV/AIDS Programs/Projects;
A minimum of 2 years practical experience in clinical mentoring of ART and PMTCT service providers
is mandatory
Terms of Employment for position: One year contract, renewable based on satisfactory performance
and availability of funds
