The Road Towards HIV Free Society
The road towards HIV-free society project is funded by Global Fund through Kenya Red Cross Society. Deaf Empowerment Kenya is one of the sub-recipients contracted by the Kenya Red Cross Society to roll out the project in Machakos and Kathiani Sub Counties since 2012. Through DEK initiatives the below have been realized:
Increased access to Prevention of Mother To Child Transmission (PMTCT) uptake by antenatal mothers- Health facilities are ready and equipped to address EMTCT
- Increased knowledge, attitude, and belief in the need for PMTCT in the community
- Increased participation and visibility of community health workers toward the elimination of other child transmission
- Quality access to Home and Community Based Care (HCBC ) Services
- Reduction of HIV/AIDs related mortality and morbidity rates at the community levels
